St. Matthew's Lutheran Church welcomes you!

Founded in 1876, St. Matthew's Lutheran Church has a long history of faithful service to Jesus Christ. The people of St. Matthew's joyfully welcome you to join us in Sunday worship at any time. Church activities include Sunday school, Bible study classes, First Communion classes for children, Confirmation classes for youth, and special services during the church year.

You will find the members of St. Matthew's to be congenial, harmonious, and united in serving Christ and supporting one another. We are a medium-sized congregation that is bound together in Christian love and fellowship, and we invite you to join our caring community of faith. Through our love for God and each other, we live out our faith each and every day.

With its gothic cathedral design, St. Matthew's Lutheran Church is an excellent example of how a building may stand as a witness of God to the world. The bell tower and steeple point toward God as our source of strength, joy, and forgiveness. The front entrance features massive oak doors framed by symbols of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, the four Evangelists who proclaimed the Gospel. Above the doors is an Italian tile mosaic depicting nine seasons of the Church Year.

Inside St. Matthew's, twenty inspiring stained glass windows depict figures from the Old and New Testaments. The pulpit, lectern, and altar feature numerous richly carved symbols of God's creation, while the stone baptismal font stands as a powerful reminder of God's saving grace through baptism. The focal point of the interior is a carved polychromed figure above the altar of The Good Shepherd carrying His lost sheep, a reminder of Christ's love for each and every one of us.

The Lutheran Church is the world's oldest and largest Protestant denomination, founded by followers of Martin Luther during the 16th century Reformation. Lutherans are Christians who believe that people are justified by God's grace, freely given through faith in his Son, Jesus Christ, the savior of the world.
